The University of Sargodha (UOS) is a leading public sector university in Punjab, Pakistan, tracing its roots back to the establishment of De’Montmorency College in 1929. With its main campus in Sargodha City and an agriculture college in its suburbs, UOS hosts over 19,000 students and 550+ faculty members across 22 departments, three institutes, one school, and four constituent colleges. The university offers modern teaching and research facilities, scholarships, internships, and business opportunities, prioritizing student success and promoting critical learning and scholarship.

History

Founded in 1929 as De’Montmorency College, UOS evolved through various stages, including its transition to Government College Sargodha in 1963 and finally attaining university status in 2002. Initially based in Shahpur Sadar, the college relocated to Sargodha city in 1946 and underwent several name changes before becoming Government College Sargodha. Dr. Riaz ul Haq became its first Vice-Chancellor upon achieving university status. Currently, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, UOS continues its journey toward academic excellence and aims to become a hub of higher education in Pakistan and South Asia.
