GCU’s history traces back to its inception in 1864 when it initially operated from various locations within Lahore’s Walled City. However, in 1877, it moved to its current Gothic-style building, designed by W. Purdon and supervised by Kannhaiya Lal. The college has played a pivotal role in shaping Punjab’s educational landscape, with notable figures like Dr. G. W. Leitner serving as its first principal.
